His obsession came on like a cold: he'd feel the tickle of interest at first, only to wake up mired in analysis the next day. What Dad had found in the woods was a package of improbability and alien exoticism that shouldn't have been where it was, and now it was leaning against a rusted out VW bus in his backyard. His curiosity had never been so enabled. This particular obsession took the form of a metallic exoskeleton of just over his fourteen year-old height, smattered with rust patches and strewn in a tattered web of dilapidated clothing over its torso. A funnel of framework protruded a foot and a half from its face, sloping downward near the tip. Just above this rim sat what Delaney figured had to be eye sockets, but its right orbital was broken on bottom, with the 'eyeball' missing.
